Our Involvement
The development included 211 units including a mix of detached, semi-detached, townhouses and apartments. The total investment to deliver this scheme will be approximately £30 million with 200 jobs supported through construction and supply chain opportunities.
The development will mainly consist of family homes, which will contribute to the family-orientated community in this part of Banbridge. The new housing development will help meet housing demand in the local area whilst increasing footfall and revenue to Banbridge town centre.
Issues encountered
- Traffic impact
- Access roads
- Landscaping
- Concerns over continuity of house design with the local area
- Existing residents' privacy concerns
- Flood concerns
Gravis Planning provided planning and strategic communications support to the developer, McAleer & Rushe, to secure approval for this residential development.
Planning advice included dealing with responses from statutory consultees such as DfI Roads, the Rivers Agency and DAERA's Natural Environment Division.
Through effective engagement, letters of support were gained from the local business community and amendments were introduced to deal with concerns expressed. This culminated in political support for the project at Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council's Planning Committee.
