Our Involvement

The AD plant consists of 2 digester tanks, 1 hydrolysis tank, 5 feedstock storage clamps, a dry-solids feeder, Combined Heat & Power (CHP) engines, a pump house, a Biomethane Upgrade Plant and associated infrastructure. Organic feedstocks obtained from the 3,000-acre farm holding on which the AD plant is located are fed into the digester to produce biogas, a form of renewable energy, which is then exported to the gas grid.

For the biogas produced by the AD plant to be of sufficient quality for the national grid, CO₂ needs to be removed from the biogas mixture, a process which is undertaken in the existing Biomethane Upgrade Plant on the site. The proposed CO₂ unit will capture and purify this by-product of the biogas upgrade process so that it can exported off site to be used in the food and beverage industries as a recovered product. In this instance, Gravis has led discussions between the client, CO₂ recovery unit manufacturer and noise consultant to ensure the proposed development will meet strict noise level conditions imposed on the operation of the AD plant. This information has been compiled and submitted as part of the planning application for the CO₂ recovery plant.
