Our Involvement
Overall, the plans will create over 100 jobs as well as supporting the regeneration of Ballymena through attracting additional footfall to the town centre. The works requiring planning consent were:
- A new and improved entrance at Greenvale Street to form a more welcoming and attractive gateway to the Centre
- An extension of one of the units and reconfiguration of the mall to create an enhanced shopping experience
- A significant redevelopment at the corner of Mill Street and Wellington Street to provide a new retail unit with a modernised façade
Issues Encountered
- Need for timely approval
Gravis Planning managed Pre-Application Discussions (PADs) and prepared full planning applications for each proposal. Our Strategic Communications team also briefed elected representatives on the proposed developments.
Planning consent was secured within one month for two of the applications, with the third approved inside two months, allowing construction to begin as soon as possible.
