Lagan Junction Rail Renewal
This project involved the complete renewal of Lagan Junctions switches and crossings, and the replacement of 240m of track including ballast and concrete sleepers with under-sleeper pads. We provided a host of Strategic Communications services to support the delivery of this project.

Our Involvement
In addition to the renewal of Lagan Junction, the parapets and arch of masonry bridge UB316 were also removed prior to infilling and replaced with a new section of embankment to support the railway.
The work was taken forward during a first Christmas line closure by Translink and completed two days ahead of schedule, enabling the railway to reopen to passengers as scheduled on 4 January 2021.
Working with Translink and their contractor Babcock, Gravis Planning provided comprehensive information on the timing of the renewal works and any disruption likely to be caused was communicated via a project website, a webinar and pamphlets to local residents.
A presentation was also delivered to Belfast City Council on the project, and briefings provided to all relevant elected representatives and stakeholders.
