Gravis Planning was delighted to sponsor the Annual Dinner of the Royal Town Planning Institute for Northern Ireland (RTPI NI) at Belfast City Hall in March. We were especially thrilled to see our own Director of Planning, Chris Bryson, be formally inducted as Chair of RTPI NI for 2023-24. This is a major achievement and career milestone for Chris, and the whole team at Gravis is very proud of him.
In his inaugural speech, Chris touched on some of the biggest challenges and opportunities facing the planning sector in Northern Ireland, as well as across the UK and Ireland, today.
Chris spoke of the need to promote a more positive image of planning and stressed the huge potential that it has in bringing about positive change for communities in terms of placemaking, economic opportunity and quality of life. He spoke of the barriers which currently exist in the planning system and why they must be removed if the development needed to achieve our goals as a society is to become a reality. Chris also paid tribute to the work of the many professionals, both in the public and private sectors, who recognise the need for planning to evolve and are driving this evolution on a daily basis in their roles.
The night was a memorable occasion for Gravis and we look forward to seeing Chris in his new leadership role over the coming months.
