Gravis supports Translink on Platform Extension at Adelaide Station

23 January 2025

Working alongside Translink and Charles Brand, Gravis Planning's Strategic Communications team is delighted to see the successful completion of platform extensions at Adelaide Station. The new extended platforms will enable trains with six carriages to call at the station, offering more space and capacity for passengers.

Adelaide Station Extension

The project delivered the extension of the platforms by 50m, to ensure they meet the required standards, helping to meet future passenger demand and encourage a shift towards sustainable transport.

Gravis was instructed to manage the stakeholder and community engagement on this project in the lead up to the closure of the railway line during Easter 2024 as well as a further closure over the summer months to facilitate the works. We managed the interface between the main contractor and the local community to provide key information throughout the duration of the project. This included a public drop-in event, various letters to local residents, ongoing contact with local community representatives and the design and delivery of project materials.

Gravis also oversaw the delivery of a range of initiatives as part of a community benefit package associated with the project. This included the installation of new lighting at the entrance to Adelaide station and improvements to the alleyway behind Great Northern Street, including power washing and environmental improvements through planters, soil and plants.
